Taiseiyo Taiko is Ireland's only Japanese drumming ensemble.

Taiko drumming is unique among the performing arts for its synthesis of music, movement and spirituality. Although its roots stretch back for centuries, into the Buddhist and Shinto religious traditions, it became popularised only as recently as the 1950s, with the rise of performing groups such as Osuwa Daiko, Sukeroko Daiko and Za Ondekoza, from which the internationally famous Kodo drummers arose. Today, there are thousands of groups playing Taiko in Japan, the US and throughout Europe.

Founded in 2006, Taiseiyo's mission is to bring this dynamic art form to Ireland and its capital city through performances and workshops for players of all ages and ability levels.
